Even though this beautiful farmhouse was built in 1898, its truss (the wooden beams and supports on which the building rests) are considerably older. This is because the original farm once stood on the ‘De Regge’ river, near the harbour and lock. Such a small harbour or lock used to be called 'Zijl' and since ‘ij’ is pronounced as ‘ie’ in the province of Twente, the farm was given the name ‘De Ziel’. When the harbour lost its function, the farm was moved to higher ground, and the truss – the most precious part of the building – was re-used. Today, these ancient beams and supports are still prominently visible in the rooms and give them a special charm.Accommodations and prices
The characteristic barn has been converted into four tastefully furnished rooms and a lounge where guests can enjoy breakfast, a drink, or just relax and read a book. The lounge has been decorated with antiques in the typical Twente farmhouse style.
Each of the guest rooms is individually designed, very spacious and has a separate sitting area and a luxurious private bathroom. The rooms have a unique atmosphere thanks to the many original elements preserved by the owners.
All rooms have coffee/tea-making facilities.
From EUR 82.50 per room per night, based on double occupancy, including breakfast.
Children up to 2 years of age are free, from 3 through 11 years EUR 17.50 and from 12 years on EUR 27.50.
Single occupancy EUR 60.00.
A child’s cot and high chair are available on request.
If all accommodations are reserved by one party (up to 12 persons), the kitchen will be placed at their disposal.

Surroundings
DiepenheimGuest Farm ‘De Ziel’ is situated on the Westerflier estate and is surrounded by numerous castles and manors, most of which are still inhabited. Guests who appreciate beautiful nature and tranquillity can enjoy themselves to their heart’s content. From the farm, they can walk along the De Regge river to its source. A number of different bicycle trails, for example the Six Castle Route and the Five-Star Route, lead past the farm and across the estate (route descriptions and bicycles are available to guests). A Diepenheim Art Route has been mapped out for art lovers. This town also has an interesting agricultural museum and a water mill, and many delightful gardens in the surrounding area are open to visitors. Other options in the vicinity are a public swimming pool, golf course and numerous restaurants.
