In the Middle Ages the city of Hamont had a walled castle with two gates. The building where presently is Villa Christina, was the first house upon entering through the Achelpoort. After a major fire in 1758, which destroyed half the city, the building has been completely rebuilt on top of the arched cellars that remained intact. At that time it was already a tavern. From 1795 to 1879 "Villa Christina" was occupied by various Teuten families: migrant merchants offering their goods in the low countries and Germany. In 1919 the Geusens family became owners of the former Teuten tavern. Daughter Christin continued to live there until 1997. Then, the current owners bought this meanwhile poor conditioned 18th century mansion, to become a preserved monument today. After a thorough restoration with respect for all historical details, the hosts restored its original destination as ‘tavern’.Accommodation and prices
Christina Villa has 15 rooms and can comfortably accommodate 34 people.
The premises are divided into two mansions and the Coach House.
That makes this address not only suitable for couples who want to spend a romantic weekend together, but also a company of 10 people that quietly want to enjoy their holiday.
All rooms in the mansions have a private bathroom, ADSL, telephone and TV.
Both the rooms as well as the common area breathe a classic atmosphere. The stylish Italian furniture reminds of past times. The combination of the original woodwork, soft colours and classic lighting has a dreamy touch to it.
The dining room with its graceful ceiling and marble fireplace is fully equipped with authentic handmade nutwood furniture.
The library, with handmade bookcase and desk, is provided with all modern means of communication.
In the stylish kitchen, equipped with all modern comfort, is a range of excellent Italian wines available when desired.
In the cozy living room with marble fireplace and nutwood furnishings guests can quietly sit and enjoy.
In summer the terrace is open.
The Coach House can accommodate 10 people. Although all four rooms have a wonderful private bathroom, this house is also perfect for a company looking for a peaceful and private holiday. The kitchen, dining- and sitting room on the ground floor are for common use.
One of the mansions has an excellent restaurant on the ground floor.
From € 42.50 to € 57.50 per person per night based on double occupancy, including breakfast.

Surroundings
Hamont-AchelHamont-Achel is a quiet historic town with filled up ramparts, near the Dutch border. Situated in a beautiful woody scenery are several nature reserves within a radius of ten kilometres. The Limburg Kempen also have a reputation as a cycling paradise. An extensive, clearly marked bike path network leads along beautiful spots. In the immediate vicinity are many historic places of interest: Teuten houses, the Achelse Kluis with the Trappist brewery, the Tomp, churches with their treasures, prehistoric burial mounds and much more. Nearby are several larger cultural and shopping cities like Hasselt, Genk, Weert and Eindhoven.
