Hoeve de witte Gans
St. Martens Voeren - border region
This over 400 years old farmhouse was built with traditional craftsmanship and partly provided with a firebrick façade in the 18th century, in which the old windows were replaced. Inside are still old oak beams, crossbeams filled with loam, large fireplaces and hand-cut tiles. Time seems to have stood still for centuries here. The former family were the owners of the farm for over 200 years. After the last occupant left for a retreat, Raymond and Pauline started to renovate. Only natural materials like wood, loam and stone were used. The name of the country house derives from the tame white geese born in 2008 populating the orchard. A rooster, chickens, sheep and three goats accompany them.
Accommodation and prices
The farmhouse consists of three connected main building parts with the former bake house on the left. In 2008 ’t Bakhuis was renovated for the last time and changed into a luxury holiday residence for two persons. The accommodation has separate entrances offering maximum privacy. It is comfortable and homely, with characteristic elements like an original baking oven, hand-cut hard stone tiles, a real box bed to dream away, and lots of woodwork. On the ground floor are a well-equipped kitchen and a living room with a big flat-screen television. Guests have the private terrace at their disposal. On the first floor are the box bed and the bathroom. The very comfortable box bed has modern measurements. The bathroom has a large double walk-in shower and a separate toilet.
In the ‘Hooischuur’, guests have a spacious romantic bedroom (40 m2), a bathtub, shower with large rain shower, second WC, second sitting room with fireplace, breathtaking views and a real cinema-for-two.
From € 40,- per person per night.

Surroundings
St. Martens VoerenHoeve de witte Gans is located on 22.000 m2 private land in the heart of the Voerstreek of Zuid-Limburg province. The Voerstreek is one big open-air museum with a myriad of monuments and scenery. In a radius of several kilometres are various castles, churches, village pumps, old railway viaducts and craft houses to admire. Heritage renovated with passion, just like Hoeve de witte Gans. The scenery is not the same as in Belgian Limburg. Here the sloping landscape alternates with hollow roads, natural springs and rippling small rivers. But also stretched woods, wide plains and high pedigree orchards. A unique flora and fauna, home to the badger and the kingfisher. Maastricht and Aix-la-Chapelle are within 20 minutes’ reach.
