As a bon vivant with a penchant for meeting new people, owner Jean Baptiste transformed this former barn into a home away from home; a sanctuary for those who wish to escape reality for a while to simply ‘be’. Opening his B&B was inspired by a deep sense of hospitality and marked the end of the professional life he had led until then.
La Plonplonière can be found by an idyllic little river on the edge of the historic village of Aix-en-Issart, just a 1.5-hour drive from Lille and a stone's throw from the Côte d'Opale. Once you arrive, it is a bit as if time has stood still, and life immediately shifts down a gear.
The guest rooms are therefore designed as a place where you can truly feel at home and unwind. On the ground floor, the spaces are spacious, befitting the atmosphere of a suite. Upstairs, the ambiance is more intimate. The interior, created in collaboration with the brand Blanc d’Ivoire, is characterized by natural materials and timeless design. The bedding offers remarkable comfort, inspired by the finest Parisian hotels.
There are four lovely rooms. Furnished for two people, each with its own atmosphere and theme. Without exception, the beds guarantee a good night's sleep, the private bathrooms are fully equipped, and amenities such as luxurious bed and bath linens, a seating area, coffee and tea making facilities, and high-speed Wi-Fi are standard.
In addition to the B&B rooms, there is also a gîte that offers plenty of privacy and space for up to eight guests. They have access to four bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy dining room, and an open living area decorated in a country chic style.
Table d’hôtes at La Plonplonière is a festive dinner consisting of simple, tasty dishes to share. Allergies are taken into account (please let us know in advance).
Small dogs are welcome, provided they are announced when making a reservation.
Just 2.5 hours from Paris and 1.5 hours from Lille, this is the perfect place to unwind and relax. Along the Côte d'Opale, which awaits literally a stone's throw away, beaches, coves and dunes, farmland, forests, and characteristic villages alternate. Cyclists and walkers will find themselves short of time here, while golfers will appreciate the proximity of several renowned golf courses. A special package has also been put together for wellness enthusiasts.
HistoryIt all started with an inscription on a beam in the old barn next to the main building. Carved into the wood was 1770 VA, in a mysterious script that has stood the test of time and moved the owner. This silent witness to a history dating back some three centuries formed the starting point of the La Plonplonière adventure and inspired Jean-Baptiste Aubert to cherish this rich past, breathe new life into it, and pass it on to others.
