Herberg De Gouden Leeuw

Next to the Charles Dickens Museum

Herberg De Gouden Leeuw has nine idyllic hotel rooms on the first floor, three of which are suites. Each accommodation has a highly individual, romantic atmosphere and a private bathroom, some with bathtub. A great variety of modern conveniences are standard features.

The main building accommodates two luxury apartments suited for two to seven and four to nine persons, respectively. Each tastefully decorated apartment has a complete kitchen and several bathrooms, as well as many other standard facilities.

Located on the ground floor is the charming à la carte restaurant, ’t Pietshuus, where guests can enjoy a delightful menu. In the winter, a glass of wine tastes best in front of the large open fireplace, while in the summer the lovely spacious terrace is an ideal place for a drink or even dinner under the stars.

The inn is excellently equipped for a variety of parties, festivities, private dinners and meetings.

Herberg De Gouden Leeuw Bronkhorst, Gelderland
With only 150 residents, Bronkhorst is the smallest city in the Netherlands. It has been magnificently restored and there is hardly a building that couldn’t be considered a cultural heritage site. Situated opposite the inn is the Slotkapel, the castle’s chapel, dating from 1345, and next to it the Charles Dickens Museum. The Hanseatic city of Zutphen, with its lovely medieval centre, is only a stone’s throw away. And for all of those who just can’t get enough culture, Het Loo Palace and the Kröller-Müller Museum are within easy reach. And with the close proximity to the IJssel River, there is plenty to do for nature lovers. For instance, there are numerous scenic walking and cycling trails in the immediate vicinity, and Veluwe National Park starts virtually in Bronkhorst’s backyard. History This delightful inn is situated in one of the oldest and most beautiful city farmhouses in the Netherlands. Today, Herberg De Gouden Leeuw (Golden Lion Inn) is offering superb hospitality on these very same premises, which originally consisted of three separate buildings. The oldest section, the former mayor’s residence, dates from 1575 and is now being used as a Heerenkamer. Also located in the former mayor’s quarters is the Gelagkamer, whose authentic open fireplace with an original tile picture is a vivid reminder of the olden days. The second building, ’t Pietshuus, used to be a horse mill and was built around 1750. The unique features of this structure include the so-called cow’s eyes, i.e. authentic oval windows. The third building, the former Deel (barn and threshing floor), dates from 1650.
