The Rieten Mandje is situated in the centre of the watery Giethoorn with its small bridges, beautiful houses and museums like the Olde Maathuis and the Oude Aarde. A boat trip leads along the village to the splendid nature areas De Wieden and De Weerribben. Within reach and also worth visiting are Blokzijl, Vollenhove, Steenwijk, Meppel and Zwolle. Cycle- walking- and (possibly) skating tours can be done from the guesthouse. Woods and heath lands are in the vicinity of Ruinen and Ravelte. In Giethoorn and its close area are a number of restaurants varying from simple to starred. History At the beginning of the last century a labourer’s cottage with shed was built. After some renovations the old shed was provided with a thatched roof and an arbour. In 2007, after an extensive renovation, Bed&Breakfast facilities were realised.
