The Koepoort shines on the edge of the historic center of Middelburg, next to the Schouwburg and overlooking the Molenwaterpark and the Bolwerk. In this centuries-old, as the only remaining city gate of the city, there are two fantastic apartments.
Both apartments offer space for two guests, who will lack nothing. There is a fully equipped kitchen (including a Nespresso machine, kettle and combi microwave), a cozy sitting area with Digital Smart TV, a separate bedroom and a bathroom with shower and toilet.
You will never be bored in Middelburg. There are various restaurants, cafes and cafes, plenty of shops, a beautiful historic center and also the Zeeland museum. In addition, Veere, Domburg, Zoutelande and Oostkapelle are easy to do by bicycle, while the vast beaches await a maximum of 15 kilometers.
HistoryIn the Middle Ages, Middelburg had eight city gates that had a defensive and a controlling function (it was easy to keep track of who went in and out). The Koepoort, built in Baroque style and built by architect Jan de Munck and sculptor Jan Pieter van Baurscheidt the Younger, is the only city gate that still exists. Until 2016 he served as a home annex studio of visual artist Leendert van der Pool.
