Auberge de Campveerse Toren

Five centuries of heart-warming gastronomy

A heart-warming welcome, a choice of seventeen wonderful rooms, an equally delicious restaurant and all in perhaps the most beautiful town in Zeeland: Veere. And then we haven't even talked about its rich history - the Campveerse Toren was built as part of the Veere fortress, is one of the oldest inns in the country and has been used as an inn for five (!) centuries.

Returning to the rooms: they are all unique in terms of design and view and vary from comfortable standard rooms to the most luxurious (honeymoon) suites. But you will certainly not lack modern comfort, a good bed and a complete bathroom. In addition to the rooms, you can also book the holiday home for four people, which is located further on the island in Vrouwenpolder, has two bedrooms and is equipped with every comfort.

The view over the Veerse Meer is fantastic and the activity of the passing yachts means that there is always something to see. The restaurant - with that magnificent view - is open for dinner from Thursday to Sunday, and on Saturdays you can also go there for lunch - in high season this is possible every day of the week! – and high tea is by reservation. Lovers of Oosterschelde lobster can note that it is on the menu from April 1 to July 15.

Auberge de Campveerse Toren Veere, Sealand

Little is known about the exact history of Veere, but it is absolutely certain that it has been around for over 700 years! Veere is praised at home and abroad for its striking location on the Veerse Meer and loved for its monumental beauty. There is a beach at the Veerse Meer. Other beaches nearby are Vrouwenpolder, Breezand, Oranjezon, Domburg and Neeltje Jans. Shopping in Middelburg means wandering around unexpected shops in an impressive monumental setting.

History

The name of this centuries-old city inn recalls the original name of the town: Campveere. The inn was built in the period 1358 - 1390 when Veere had been given city rights and was busy walling the city. The tower was part of the fortifications at the time, as were the other towers and gates that rose in strategic places around the city. The fact that gastronomy and hospitality are in the genes here is evident from the fact that the inn has been in use as such for five centuries.
