Eiland De Zaag is located in the nature of the Krimpenerwaard near Rotterdam and on that playful island is the boutique hotel Het huis van de Kikker with four spacious suites. These suites are luxurious, designed in Art Deco style and each have their own unique elements. It goes without saying that you will not lack all kinds of modern comfort - think of comfortable twin beds, super complete bathroom, minibar, desk and spacious seating area, safe, TV and high-speed WiFi. And to think that, apart from the occasional sound of a whistling bird, you hear nothing at all.
An overnight stay here is not complete without a delicious breakfast. This is served in the Josephine room - or in your suite if you prefer - and consists of biologically responsible products from the Krimpenerwaard.
With plenty of privacy and a beautiful view of the nature around, the Josephine room is also the ideal place to gather for a meeting in a professional and open atmosphere and an art dinner can also be served.
And speaking of food: the associated restaurant De Proefstand is open on Thursdays and Fridays for dinner and on Saturdays and Sundays, in addition to dinner, also for lunch or drinks.
So once you've checked in, you don't have to go anywhere if you don't feel like it.
A stone's throw from Rotterdam yet surrounded by nothing but peace and nature. There is plenty to see on the grounds of Het Huis van de Frog. A walk through the De Kleine Zaag nature reserve, full of birds, small animals and beautiful waters, is a true journey of discovery with more than 5 km of hiking trails.
HistorySince the Huis van de Frog was built in 1926 as an executive residence for Machinefabriek Bolnes, the furnishings are inspired by the Art Deco style of that time. As for the name: it is taken from the former director of the factory who had his domicile here. The gait of this Mr. Van Cappellen reminded his employees so much of a frog that this inevitably became his nickname - and perhaps still is to some extent.
