Boutique Hotel Caelus VII Tongeren, Haspengouw

Haspengouw is also known as the Tuscany of Belgium. It is the ideal region for those who love hiking and cycling, good food, nature, and culture. In spring, the region is famous for its beautiful fruit blossoms. As Belgium's oldest city, Tongeren has plenty to offer. Ranging from museums and historic buildings to shops, terraces, pubs, and restaurants of all shapes and sizes (nowhere else are there as many Michelin-starred restaurants as here!). And then, of course, there's the Sunday antique market, which is famous far and wide. Maastricht, Bilzen, Sint-Truiden, and even Hasselt are also easily accessible.

History

First, a word about the hotel's name: Caelus VII is a nod to the Roman god of heaven (Caelus) and the house number (VII). Together, they form "the seventh heaven," and that is exactly the experience you can expect as a guest here. This building once served as a hat shop, a piece of its past subtly preserved in the decoration. During the renovation, modern comforts were introduced without compromising the building's authenticity.
