Want to go out with everyone to a unique location in a peaceful environment? This former chicory farm in the South-West Flemish countryside has been beautifully renovated - and with infinite love and craftsmanship - and offers spacious accommodation and luxury for 8 to a maximum of 18 guests.
To this end, a well-equipped kitchen, dining room and living room, various bedrooms and bathrooms, a covered outdoor terrace and a sunbathing area are available. Things like a washing machine and dryer and iron and ironing board have also been considered. The sleeping comfort is excellent and the box springs are made up with fresh linen. In the bathrooms you will find a range of ecological bath products and the soft towels from Witte Lietaer (producer from the Leie region). In short, everything is here to make sure you don't miss anything.
From the Ast and the adjacent farm buildings you have a magnificent view of the surrounding fields and meadows - the plot itself will be planted extensively in the near future. On the balcony and the yard, garden chairs are ready on nice days and on the large lawn facing south you will find sunbeds, garden chairs and parasols.
Ter Ast is extremely well equipped for (small) children. Plenty of space has been set up in the barn for this purpose.
The possibilities that the area offers are countless. For example, not only can you walk and cycle to your heart's content, there are also vineyards and microbreweries to visit and taste, the Bellewaerde amusement park is nearby and sky-diving, skating, horse riding and indoor skiing are also possible. Culture lovers can indulge themselves in Kortrijk, Ypres, Bruges, Ghent or Lille.
HistoryThe building is part of a historic farm that has been listed as valuable heritage. The history of the site goes back to the 15th century. The ash, dating from the second half of the 19th century, was partly destroyed by a fire in 1946 and remained in operation until 1974 after its reconstruction. Flax and chicory were grown on the fertile fields at the time. The harvested chicory roots were dried in the ash during the winter months. The farm has been inhabited by the family of the owners for more than 100 years. In 2018, it was decided to give the ash a new purpose. The renovation and repurposing were completed in the autumn of 2024. The heart of the ash is the former authentically preserved fireplace, now furnished as a cosy space with a fireplace. Other original elements are the pulley on the front facade and the stone sink on the rear facade where the harvested chicory roots were washed.
During holiday periods the house is only rented per week.
In the low season this is also possible for a (long) weekend or midweek.
