La Paresse en Douce

Something for everyone

Speaking of a rural location: La Paresse en Douce is located on a quiet road on the edge of a village, between the picturesque foothills of the Monts du Livradois and above the gorges of the river Dore. For the Dutch owners, this place was once the result of a long search in order to change course. With the decision they made then, they are still very happy every day after almost fifteen years.

At Henk and Helen you can choose from four double rooms. They are divided differently, but have the same facilities and atmosphere, while the existing old elements have been preserved. One of those rooms is XL, which means more space and a larger bathroom, air conditioning and an infrared sauna. For families with children – from 12 years old – it is possible to connect two rooms. In addition to these four rooms, there is also an XL room for a family of up to four people. This room has a second small bedroom with two single beds.

The owners love to dine in a cozy atmosphere and are happy to share this with their guests. That is why you can join the table d'hôtes five evenings a week.

Also to enjoy together is the lounge - where the fireplace burns on colder days -, the cozy dining room where breakfast and dinner are served when the weather is not so nice and the chapel that is furnished as a library. And then there is the large garden that is completely walled, the various terraces, the swimming pool - which has no Olympic dimensions but is very suitable for cooling off -, the table tennis table, trampoline and the wood-fired hot tub.

The renovation of a wonderful holiday home opposite La Paresse is currently in full swing. We will notify you as soon as bookings are available.

History

This maison d'hôtes is a sturdy, ancient, large house with a completely walled garden. Restored and converted with a sense of tradition into a place where life is pleasant. The oldest part of the house dates from around the 17th century and has long been used as a monastery. In the 19th century a notary had settled here and later the house was owned by private individuals. Many beautiful details have been preserved and / or conjured up again during the restoration of the building.
