In April 2023, Monique van Bijsterveld and Guillaume Strating became the proud owners of Les Rocailles, an existing chambre d'hotes in the heart of the Dordogne. For three months they worked with might and main and endless love to refurbish the B&B and furnish it to their own taste. Then the doors could be opened for guests. And how!
The characteristic house from 1694 has a wonderful swimming pool with pool bar and the four hectares of land offer you all the peace, privacy and space you need if you really want to do nothing at all. And then a four-course dinner will be cooked for you, served with the finest local wines.
At Monique and Guillaume you can choose from four luxurious rooms and a gîte. Two rooms are located on the first floor of the main house. The third room is on the ground floor next to the main house and the fourth in a separate house 50 meters from the main house. The gîte, with two bedrooms, is on the corner of the main house. All rooms, including those in the gîte, have their own bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. In addition, the gîte has a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave and oven and a private terrace with BBQ.
The swimming pool measures no less than 72 m2 and has a cozy pool bar. The sunbeds with cheerful beach towels are already waiting for you. You can enjoy a cold drink or an ice cream in the pool bar. The swimming pool is open during the high season (from mid-May to mid-September). The surrounding hectares of les Rocailles consist of a meadow, a forest and a large landscaped garden with flowers. The large trees and parasols provide enough shade for hot days and the garden is also an opportunity to exercise, relax or walk your dog.
The Dordogne is the name of both the river and the department. The environment surprises every day. Whether you walk through the small authentic French villages or enjoy all the luxury in a city like Périgueux, visit a flea market or one of the 1000 castles, everything is possible. The variety in the Dordogne is enormous. There is no less than 556 km of river on which you can canoe, more than 190 monuments to visit, 70 museums, 2000 water mills and 32 parks, often with beautiful gardens. But there is more, much more. If you like wine and good food, then you are also in the right place in the Dordogne.
HistoryLes Rocailles is located near Bergerac, along the Route Nationale to Périgueux. The characteristic house was built in 1694, on top of a mountain and with a fantastic view. The bed and breakfast has existed for more than 20 years and has many guests who return every year.
