In 2007 the Dutch Anne and her husband moved to the French Cotentin, a part of Normandy that they had fallen in love with earlier because of the nice climate (mild winters and nice summers), the beautiful nature, the fantastic food, the nice people, lots of culture and history and the annual celebration around D-day which is always a bonus. Ten years later, they exchanged their home for a large former farm that is very centrally located in the Cotentin. From this cozy place they let their guests enjoy the beautiful and above all varied environment. All major attractions are a very short drive from the b&b. Anne is happy to give inside tips for day programs. There is so much to see! The surprising landscape changes again every 10 km. From immense coastlines, beaches, dunes, swamps to small streams... by car, bicycle or on foot you can discover something new here every day.
Three spacious rooms – of course each with its own bathroom – are waiting to give you an unforgettable time. The beds are nice and long and without a footboard and you will not lack modern comfort. Room Boulevard Brown has a large sofa, two large chairs and a desk and the large windows overlook the garden at the rear. Room Expression Blue, the largest room and therefore ideal for a longer stay, also has a large sofa, a seat and a desk and also overlooks the garden at the rear. The bathroom that belongs to this room is in the hallway, but since there are no other guests here, you still have plenty of privacy - bathrobes and slippers are waiting for you. Finally, Room Pencil Pink is the cozy room of the house. In the summer this room, which overlooks the front of the house, is wonderfully cool. From the spacious en suite bathroom you have a view of the rear.
The spacious and cozy lounge on the ground floor invites you to read or have a drink. To this end, you will find the beautiful garden full of trees, flowers and plants – large enough to take a stroll! - also several sun terraces. At the rear of the house are two large furnished south-facing terraces. There is also sufficient space to safely store bicycles, motorcycles or other special vehicles. The parking is located a few meters from the house.
The extensive breakfast – think of warm croissants and baguettes, various types of bread, farm-fresh eggs, jams, meat and confectionery, orange juice, organic apple juice from our own apple orchard, cheeses, yogurt or cottage cheese, muesli or homemade granola, fruit and/ or other delicacies - is served in the kitchen diner.
There are numerous good restaurants in the very near vicinity (between 2 – 10 km). Table d'hôte is also possible on reservation for a minimum of 6 guests.
MH, Maison les Hirondelles is not suitable for small children. Children aged 16 and over are more than welcome (but with their parents). A minimum stay in MH is 3 nights.
MH, Maison les Hirondelles is located in a quiet village in the heart of the Cotentin, perhaps the most beautiful region of La Manche in Normandy, with an azure blue sea on three sides. Ste Mère Eglise, Cherbourg, Barfleur and St Vaast la Hougue are nearby. MH, Maison les Hirondelles is centrally located in the D-Day area with its landing beaches and various war museums. Every year around 6 June, special commemorations take place and D-Day 1944 is celebrated and commemorated every 5 years. You will find a list of weekly markets in your room and there are also routes to explore the area on foot, by bicycle, car or scooter. HistoryThe beautifully renovated house dates from 1731 and used to be a farm. Nowadays you will find a mix of French brocante, vintage and modern furniture, not to mention a small collection of D-Day items.
