Schloss Lütetsburg

A Castle with a Park and a Golf Course

In the far north of Ost-Friesland, with the North Sea just eight kilometers away, lies Lütetsburg that owes its name to the eponymous castle with associated castle park in the style of an English landscape garden.

In the park, with more than 150 different trees and shrubs, birds of all sorts and numerous historic buildings worth seeing, you can walk endlessly and to your heart's content. Afterwards, a visit to the Schlosspark café in the former greenhouse awaits you where you can enjoy a nice drink with something to eat under the green roof of old vines or on the sun terrace. Or at Restaurant Schatthuus where you can go for an extensive lunch or dinner.

And then there is also the nine-hole golf club associated with and adjacent to the castle (park). But above all, Schloss Lütetsburg is a delightful place for a weekend or a week away.

Three apartments are available for this purpose. Two adjacent to the golf course with beautiful views over the green landscape, suitable for four or six adults and two children and light and modern furnishings. Up to well-equipped kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms and living rooms and private garden with sun terrace including garden furniture and barbecue. The third apartment is located in the outer fortress wall of the castle and overlooks the moat. This apartment, of course also equipped with every possible comfort and suitable for two to four people, is furnished with antique furniture and also offers a fireplace, among other things.

There are also three romantic tree houses on the estate for lovers of pure nature. Large enough for four people, warmly decorated and complete with kitchen, sitting area, bedroom and bathroom.

Schloss Lütetsburg regularly organizes events such as summer concerts or Christmas markets, a current overview can be found on the website.

History

Lütetsburg Castle is a castle that has been inhabited for generations by the Inn- und Knyphausen family. The current castle owners are Tido Graf zu Inn- und Knyphausen with his wife Margareta and their four children. The history of the castle goes back to the 15th century. In the sixties of the last century, the castle was destroyed by a fire and then rebuilt. Complete with thick walls, a deep moat and two towers. On two pillars next to the access bridge, the heraldic animal - a stone lion - watches over the residents of the castle.
