In the historic and lively city center of Zutphen is the Huis met de Luiken – a national monument from 1629. Skippers and traders, tinsmiths and regular butchers, winemakers and bottlers used to live here. Nowadays you can spend the night there with just the two of you. An entire floor has been set up for you for this purpose. From the interior design shop on the ground floor, you reach your mecca via two short stairs of 11 steps each.
You have a comfortable room with a cozy sitting area, a table for breakfast and a comfortable bed. From all angles you look through a wall-to-wall, Rembrandt-esque and very monumental window that gives you the impression that you are back in 1629.
Around a cozy hall you will also find a private bathroom with all the trimmings, and a pantry for coffee and tea.
The B&B is available from Wednesday to Sunday. Arrival: from 2 p.m., departure no later than 10:30 a.m.
Huis met de Luiken is located on the market and less than 200 meters from the IJssel. From culture to a variety of restaurants, terraces and special shops, from the IJsselkade to the Bleek on the Martinetsingel, and then through the city gate to the Bolwerck: everything is within walking distance. Hiking trails lead through the floodplains towards Wilp or Brummen. Further on, the moor at Eefde/Gorssel awaits, the Grote Veld towards Lochem, or you can walk from the city along the Berkel to Almen. Everywhere you will come across old country houses and majestic mansions. You can make the most beautiful trips with the greatest possible variety within 30 to 60 km by bike.
HistoryHanseatic city of Zutphen is the second oldest city in the Netherlands. Formerly a city of industry, large markets and trade from the hinterland to the IJssel and beyond. Now a city with special shops in beautiful heritage, old courtyards, wonderful restaurants, bars and terraces and a lot of culture. The narrow and high Huis met de Luiken dates from 1629 and is now a national monument. The house has an urban history and a rich past. For example, skippers and traders, tinsmiths and ordinary butchers, winemakers and bottlers used to live here. Now the owners combine the functions of a house, shop and B&B.
