Hoogheem Erfgoed & Logies Nieuwolda, Groningen

The Oldambt is that beautiful flat land in the polders with numerous stately Groninger Borgen with winding gardens - there is even a special winding garden route - and many cycling and walking routes that lead through the beautiful nature. Lovers of culture, music and art can also indulge themselves here. And then there are also several restaurants in different price ranges for those who do not feel like cooking themselves.

History

This unique farm is of the oldest Oldambster type and was built in 1771. The uniqueness is that it is the last surviving farm of this type and has not changed in appearance since the glory years of the grain republic. The latter can be explained by its location on the road. During the golden years of the grain republic, the houses became bigger and more beautiful to show prosperity. There was insufficient space here for a large new front house and a winding garden, so a new front house with winding garden was not built in front of the farm, but next to it: villa Hoogheem from 1881. After 1881, only the main servant lived in the living area of the farm and since 1930 nobody lived there anymore. Until the idea for two super guest accommodations took shape and the renovation was finalized in 2020.

Reviews of Hoogheem Erfgoed & Logies
Uitstekend verblijf!
