Maren (aged-old mudflats and creeks), wierden and an open landscape, interspersed with villages, often with 11th-century churches and famous organs, characterize the surrounding landscape. In the area you can cycle and walk endlessly. Canoeing and mudflat hiking are also possible. Schiermonnikoog and Groningen are easily accessible.

This farm is first mentioned in the 14th century, but its history probably goes back even further. The type of construction dates back to the earliest farm construction in the north of the Netherlands. In the front house there is a truss construction that is rare for northern Groningen: the anchor beam truss. This, and the location of Oldenbosch on a house mound, make the monument absolutely unique. The renovation that was necessary after twenty years of vacancy was drastic and very lengthy, but the result was certainly there.
