Kasteel Amstenrade

A wonderful example of neoclassicism

Where should we start with the introduction of Landgoed Amstenrade? At the centuries-old castle, the orangery, the park or the wonderful bed and breakfast / holiday home? Being, tranquility and nature are in any case the key words here and these refer to both the monumental buildings and the 150 hectare estate.

The three bed and breakfast rooms, which are located in a detached building on the estate, each have their own color, are classically furnished and offer comfortable king / queen-size double beds, a private bathroom with shower and a coffee and tea corner. After waking up, you can stroll undisturbed through the gardens and then settle down for breakfast in the orangery. A private dinner can be provided on request and a guided tour is also given with love and pride by appointment. The B&B can also be rented in its entirety as a holiday home for up to six guests.

The orangery, which is flanked by two historic greenhouses, has recently housed a small restaurant where walkers, peace seekers and B&B guests can enjoy a nice coffee and a light lunch.

Kasteel Amstenrade Amstenrade, Limburg

Amstenrade is centrally located between Heerlen and Maastricht in South Limburg. That means a hilly landscape at the junction of three countries, full of natural beauty, culture and entertainment. Forests alternate with country roads, meandering rivers, meadows and fields. Museums, churches and monumental buildings can be found in the area and to choose from and lovers of Burgundian life will also be more than satisfied here.

History

Speaking of history: the first mention of Amstenrade dates back to 1271, while in the late 12th and early 13th century there was first mention of a castle belonging to the Heren Van Amstenraedt. In 1350 Amstenrade came into the possession of the Huyn family, a powerful family with great prestige in Limburg. In the middle of the 17th century the family Huyn died out on the male side and through the marriage of Godefrieda Huyn the county came into the possession of the counts of Salm. By inheritance, the castle subsequently became the property of the princes De Ligne. Today the castle, which is one of the most beautiful examples of neoclassicism in South Limburg, is in the possession of the Van Lidth de Jeude-d'Ansembourg family.

Fijne tijd gehad.
