Just imagine: a historic country estate in the middle of Brabant's nature; a small castle with a long-facade farm attached to it and an apartment for two at the head of that farm. Extremely luxurious, with plenty of privacy, super complete and wonderfully spacious (75m2). The terrace is also wonderfully spacious, borders the lawn and - just like the living room - offers unobstructed views over the Aa valley.
The attractive living room has a fireplace - wood is available. Although the entire apartment is also equipped with underfloor heating for that little bit of extra comfort. On hot days, the heat pump also provides passive floor cooling.
The kitchen is well equipped so you can enjoy cooking if you feel like it. In that case, you cook on induction. Finally, the bedroom is equipped with beds that guarantee a good night's sleep and the bathroom is also equipped with everything possible. Huis Zwanenburg does not provide breakfast, but a welcome pack with basic necessities is optional.
From your apartment you can walk straight into the picturesque nature of the Aa valley. You cross the river with a walking ferry, after which you continue walking past the Kilsdonk mill and back via the walking-cycling path across the avenues of the estate. A little further away (about 6 km) you will find Heeswijk Castle, the Bern Abbey, various fantastic hiking forests and the Bedafse Bergen drift dune area. Den Bosch awaits at 16 kilometers, Eindhoven at 30 and Nijmegen at 40 kilometers.
HistoryThe first mention of Zwanenburg dates from the 14th century. The outside had many different owners over the course of its history. Since 1835, Zwanenburg as a country estate has been owned by the same family, of which the current owner is now the sixth generation. Although Zwanenburg does not meet the definition of a castle - it never had the intention of being a defensible asset - it has always been referred to as a castle and/or castle in deeds from the distant past. Until the 1970s, the estate had 4 tenant farms, of which one now remains. An old still functioning river meander (the Brabantse Aa) flows right past the house and is part of the estate. The estate has been designated as a “Complex Historical Country Estate” as a national monument (not only the castle, but also the immediate surroundings, the water and the driveways).
