Why not lack of space and plenty of nature? About a hundred cows live on the Bissems Hofstede, who pleasantly stroll towards the meadows from their berths in summer time to feast on the tender grass. Two robots are available day and night for milking all these ladies, so why rush? No less than sixty hectares of land belong to the homestead. Most of them are grassland and arable land to grow animal feed like maize. Because everything seems to revolve around the cows, the calves and the little fingers. Seems indeed.
Because whoever sees the guesthouses knows better. There are two. Both located in the historic car shed along the dike. Not a single piece was left untouched during the restoration of the monumental barn. An established result to be proud of. The ancient trusses and walls provide cosiness, the modern furnishings, kitchen and bathroom offer all the comfort that makes you happy.
The apartments are spacious enough for two to four people. From the bedrooms on the top floor you have a splendid view over the IJssel or, as a matter of fact, one of the most beautiful river landscapes in the Netherlands. There is a living room with sitting area, well-equipped kitchen, spacious loft with double bed, bathroom with toilet, sink, rain shower, hairdryer, towels and each guesthouse has its own entrance. An extra bedroom with two beds awaits for a third and fourth person.
A breakfast basket including freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, cheese, sweet spreads, cold cuts, eggs and various sandwiches can be delivered to the guesthouse upon request.
You are right on the IJsseldijk in the hamlet of Marle and from your holiday home you can walk or cycle into the beautiful river landscape. You can also see the Veluwezoom from the farm, so that extensive forests and vast moors are here for the taking. You can also transfer the local ferry to the other side of the IJssel for a discovery tour of estates in the Salland region. The picturesque Hanseatic cities of Hattem, Zwolle, Kampen and Deventer are nearby. For example, a visit to the museum of the famous IJssel painter Voerman in Hattem is worthwhile. As well as a city walk through the historic city center of Kampen or a visit to Deventer.
HistoryThe history of the Bissems Hofstede dates back to the seventeenth century. The company was created as a spin-off from an adjacent medieval monastery farm. The farm name refers to the Middle Dutch word bissen, which indicates the restless running of cattle. A real farm biography has been published about the Bissems Hofstede, with all kinds of stories and anecdotes about farm life in the IJssel region of the past century. You can browse through it at your leisure. Today, the homestead is a national monument and the property of Gert-Karel Bruggert and Annet Schrijver who also run their livestock farm here.

Een heerlijke lang weekend gehad op deze fijne locatie. Gastvrij en enthousiast ontvangen door Annet, met een streekproducten pakket en een fles verse melk uit eigen stal. Alsjeblieft! dit kan al niet meer kapot naar ons idee! De eeuwenoude "schoppe" is prachtig gerestaureerd en geriefelijk ingericht. Bijzonder is de "masterbedroom" met een fantastische verstelbare boxspring van koninklijke omvang. Vanuit die boxspring ku je door de ruime dakramen wijds over de IJssel uitkijken. Een bijzonder mooie meerwaarde aan het verblijf. Ook de ruime, met regendouche naar keuze voorzien badkamer (geen bad # niet nodig voor ons) is ook nog eens uitgerust met verzorgingsproducten van rituele, hetgeen vooral door mijn lieve vrouw enthousiast werd ontvangen. Het leek wel een wellness. Wij hebben gebruik gemaakt van het optionele ontbijt wat uitgebreid en ruim voldoende bleek. Als je wil kun je ook voor een diner aan huis kiezen voor een heel redelijke prijs! Buurvrouw Sigrid caterd een 3 gangen menu en komt dit gang na gang reserveren. Ook dit viel zeer bij ons in de smaak. Wij hebben gebruik gemaakt van hun aanbod om het bedrijf te bekijken en ons te laten informeren over wat het boerenbedrijf tegenwoordig inhoudt en tegen welke regelgeving men aanloopt. Zeer informatief, vrijblijvend en het kost niks extra. Je kunt vanuit deze heerlijk comfortabele b&b letterlijk alle kanten op en is voor ons geen enkele reden om hier niet nog eens te boeken! Genieten met een hoofdletter G! Gastvrijheid met een hoofdletter G! Al met al een paar heerlijk dagen gehad in gastenverblijf 1 van Bissems Hofstede. Hartelijke ontvangst van Annet en kundige uitleg over het boerenbedrijf van zowel Annet als Gert-Karel. Verblijf van alle gemakken voorzien. Mooie locatie om te wandelen in de bossen van Wapenveld/Heerde en langs de IJssel. Aangezien we in een horecalockdown zaten konden we lekker ontbijten, lunchen en dineren in het verblijf aangezien er hiervoor alles aanwezig was. Wij komen hier zeker nog eens terug! Wat een top-adres is dit! Zeer gastvrij onthaal door Annet en Gert-Karel, prachtig verblijf in de oude en met zorg opgeknapte schuur, en een fantastische blik op de IJssel. Zo mooi! En dan ook nog kennis maken met het boerenbedrijf en de dieren...wij komen terug!
Al bij aankomst enorm enthousiast op het erf onthaald door gastvrouw Annet. Accommodatie is gloednieuw en heel stijlvol verbouwd en ingericht en van alle gemakken voorzien. Maar nog verrassender is het strandje aan de IJssel aan de overkant, zeker met dit warme weer een paradijselijke plek.
