Herberg De Klomp is situated on one of the few rural estates with a village centre: Country Estate Vilsteren. Vilsteren is scenically located in Overijssel’s beautiful Vecht Valley with countless options for wonderful outings. For instance, long-distance walkers will thoroughly enjoy the signposted ‘Vechtdalpad’ trail. Herberg De Klomp is also an ideal starting point for relaxed forest walks or sportive cycling tours to the Sahara (sand drifts), the Archemerberg or the Lemelerberg. The Hanseatic city of Zwolle, Ommen, Dalfsen or Hardenberg are worth a visit all year round. During the summer months, many traditional Dutch markets and fairs are held in the area, and several amusement parks are within easy reach. There are also a number of inspiring gardens, museums and castles open to visitors. History Herberg De Klomp is situated on Country Estate Vilsteren and dates from 1839 when the first good through road to Vilsteren was built. In those days, travellers and their animals could find shelter in and around the inn and enjoy local food and drink. In the early 19th-century the inn was run by the Klomp family and was referred to by the local population as ‘De Klomp’. The present owners purchased the business in October 1993 and immediately undertook a thorough renovation of the café-restaurant. In 2001, they even went a step further and completely revived the old inn-keeping tradition by adding eight rooms.
