Hullebrug Bed & Breakfast

4 rooms

These are the highlights

  • The area is described by the regional writer Felix Timmermans as ‘the Land of Goesting’.

  • The farmstead, whose history dates back to the 14th century, stands on 6 hectares of pastureland on the riverbank.

  • Breakfast is served in ‘de Smissche’, a converted stable building with an adjoining terrace beneath the old walnut tree, offering views of the countryside.

"Hullebrug" is a beautifully restored century-old farm, located in Itegem (Heist op den Berg). From your room the river Nete can be seen how it winds its way through the fields and how cyclists and hikers enjoy the marvellous surroundings during both summer and wintertime. 25 minutes from Antwerp and 45 minutes from Brussels, Hullebrug is ideally situated for businesspeople as well as for those who want to combine a city-trip with a stay in a luxurious and rural bed & breakfast.

You can choose between four completely new and comfortable rooms, each with TV/DVD, bathroom and toilet. Three rooms are located on the first floor of the house and are accessible day and night through outdoor stairs. One room (Frisine) is located on the ground floor and is accessible from the courtyard. This room is perfectly accessible for wheelchair users. Each bedroom is decorated in a different style.

Surroundings

Our B&B lies next to the river Nete and in the middle of meadows. This is the region where the Belgian author Felix Timmermans was born. The bedrooms are named after the characters in his books.

History

Hullebrug Bed & Breakfast is set in a characteristic farm, whose history dates back to 1670. Although over the centuries a lot of building and restoring has been done, the authenticity of the building was maintained, while you will not lack to modern comfort.

Danny Claes

In 2010, Danny and Susan discovered this beautiful farmhouse on the banks of the Nete. One glance at the inner courtyard and they were sold. And so began a new chapter in the history of the Claes family: living together, yet separately, and continuing to develop the B&B as a place where guests immediately feel at home. For fifteen years, Danny and Susan ran the show, putting their heart and soul into it. Recently, their daughter-in-law has taken the reins and is continuing the warm, homely tradition. Behind the scenes, Grandma and Grandad remain involved. It’s their secret to a long life.
