The renowned restaurant Hippocampus is affiliated with, among other things, the prestigious Jeunes Restaurateurs d’Europe and Master Chefs of Belgium. As a result, host and chef Francis Scheyvaerts can rank among the best in European gastronomy. He uses a selection of the freshest ingredients for his dishes, preferably from his own region.

Because there are only eight rooms, the clientele of Hippocampus will experience enormous privacy in this large house. The rooms are all spacious and furnished with Art Déco furniture. All rooms have a private bathroom with shower and / or bath and internet connection. A hearty breakfast with fresh fruit juice, warm croissants, French brioches and various cheeses is served in a room on the first floor overlooking the park-like garden.

On cold winter days, the fire in the fireplace welcomes guests. While on nice summer days, the terrace is covered with a view of the beautiful pond with water lilies. On pleasant summer days, tables are set on the terrace, offering a view of the beautiful pond and its water lilies. And to make the experience truly complete, there is also a delightful swimming pool.

Surroundings

Hippocampus is located in the heart of the Kempen. The area is an oasis of peace and greenery and there are plenty of walking and cycling paths. Golfers can choose from two nearby golf courses, the 'Kempense' and the 'Postelse'. The 'Norbertine abbey' in wooded Postel is also worth a visit.

History

The stately white villa was built around 1900 and for decades was inhabited by the managers of the local 'Vieille Montagne' factory. In 1992 it got assigned the destination restaurant / hotel. During the renovation, care was taken to preserve the authentic atmosphere.
