Looking for a great getaway to a unique location in a peaceful setting? Situated in the countryside of Southwest Flanders, this former chicory kiln has been stunningly renovated to offer spacious, luxurious accommodation for 8 to 18 guests.
Facilities include a well-equipped kitchen, dining room, and living area, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, a covered outdoor terrace, and a sunny lawn. Practical amenities such as a washing machine, dryer, iron, and ironing board are also provided. Sleeping comfort is excellent, with box-spring beds made up with fresh linens. The bathrooms feature a selection of eco-friendly bath products and soft towels from De Witte Lietaer (a manufacturer from the Leie region). In short, everything is here to ensure you have everything you need for a perfect stay.
From the hop kiln and the adjoining farm buildings, you have a magnificent view of the surrounding fields and meadows. On fine days, garden chairs are set out on the balcony and in the farmyard, while the large south-facing lawn features sun loungers, garden chairs, and parasols. Ter Ast is exceptionally well-equipped for (young) children, with plenty of space set aside for them in the barn.
Surroundings
The surrounding area offers countless possibilities. Not only are there ample opportunities for walking and cycling, but you can also visit vineyards and microbreweries for tours and tastings; the Bellewaerde theme park is nearby, and activities such as skydiving, skating, horseback riding, and indoor skiing are also available. Culture enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy in Kortrijk, Ypres, Bruges, Ghent, or Lille.
The host
The host
On the fertile fields of this farmstead, which has been home to the same family for over 100 years, flax and chicory used to be grown. The harvested chicory roots were dried in the ast (drying oven) during the winter months. In 2018, the decision was made to repurpose the property and carry out renovations. As a result, you can now enjoy a wonderful holiday here with family or friends.
