La Villa Balat

3 suites

These are the highlights

  • Your suite overlooks the peaceful courtyard garden, the citadel, or the point where the Meuse and the Sambre rivers meet.

  • Breakfast, prepared with care and love, is served in the majestic breakfast room overlooking the River Maas.

  • The library exudes the atmosphere of early 20th-century literary and artistic circles. It’s the perfect place to relax with a drink.

Those who don't like allure better stay away from here. Because let's face it! A distinguished villa, one of the most beautiful houses in the city as well, right on the water - in the water even - with a view of the citadel and the Walloon parliament, where the Maas and the Sambre embrace each other, between the pont de Jambes and the pont des Ardennes, and then also a stone's throw from the historic center of Namur, with all its restaurants, shops and museums. Yes right?

You can choose from three rooms, or actually suites. You can bathe in luxury in all three. Even if some are a bit bigger than the other and you can look out on the quiet inner garden and there on the citadel or the confluence of the rivers. All three are also attractive, while the sleeping comfort is without exception top and the bathrooms super complete and romantic. The largest room also has a private terrace.

The breakfast with mostly local products is prepared with care and love and served in the majestic breakfast room on the Maas.

The library breathes the atmosphere of the early twentieth century literary and artistic circles. Here you can also relax with a drink. And then there is also the charming city garden to enjoy when the weather permits.

Surroundings

Namur is the capital of Wallonia and enjoys a central location 30 minutes from the airports of Brussels, Charleroi Sud and Liège and at the water connection between Amsterdam, Luxembourg and Cologne. This "smart" city is number two in the list of "smart cities" in Belgium and is brimming with innovations in tourism, culture and economy. All these modern gadgets go hand in hand with the old Namur, which with its 3 km car-free streets delight lovers of art, history and water sports. Gourmets will not be disappointed: Namur people love good food!

A stately villa, an old villa, and one of the finest houses in the city to boot, right on the water’s edge – in the water, in fact – and with a view of the citadel and the Walloon Parliament, where the Meuse and the Sambre rivers meet. Naturally, it has been rebuilt and renovated on numerous occasions over the centuries. But none of this has detracted from its old-world charm. Thank goodness.

Enjoying Namur

Discover all the wonderful things Namur has to offer

The citadel – with viewpoints overlooking the city and rivers, walking trails and underground passages – is one of the largest fortifications in Europe.

The town centre is small but charming. It features squares such as the Place d’Armes, narrow streets, plenty of cafés and restaurants, and a typical Walloon atmosphere.

Saint-Aubain Cathedral is a strikingly classical (almost Italian) cathedral and very different from the Gothic churches you often see in Belgium.
