Domaine les Darbonnets

4 spacious rooms

These are the highlights

  • For those who wish, a table d’hôtes is also an option.

  • The estate is just 20 minutes from the Route du Soleil (A6).

  • To ensure everyone’s peace and quiet, we have an ‘adults only’ policy.

Can you picture yourself sitting there? Under one of the ancient trees on the estate? Or in a quiet corner with a babbling brook and birdsong in the background? A good read, a refreshing dip in the (heated) saltwater pool, and then stretched out on your lounger under the parasol? Living like a king in France, indeed.

Domaine les Darbonnets offers four spacious, bright B&B rooms. All four are carefully furnished, have a full private bathroom, and a view of the park-like garden. In the morning, the Dutch owners serve a generous breakfast with local products – fresh bread, homemade jams, and regional delicacies. This is served indoors or – as soon as possible! - relax outside on the terrace. For those who prefer, table d'hôtes is also an option. This means an exquisite four-course menu with matching wines from the chateau's wine cellar.

The estate is only 20 minutes from the Route du Soleil (A6). Pets are unfortunately not welcome here, and the policy is "adults only."

Minimum stay: 2 nights.

This residence, dating from 1830, was built as a summer home by Catherine Soullier. After her death, her granddaughter Rose Soullier inherited the country house. Rose had six children, many of whom went on to have distinguished careers. Her granddaughter, the writer Marguerite Bourcet, wrote her first novel here in 1922 and later published some fifteen works. She described the estate as an idyllic park designed by a landscape architect. Marguerite’s sister, Marie-Rose, married the pharmacist René Fouché, inventor of the well-known herbal tea Boldoflorine and a pioneer in radio advertising.

When you say ‘Bresse’, you mean ‘Bresse chicken’. So if there’s anywhere you can eat good chicken, it’s definitely here.
