Chambres d’hôtes La Joyeuse

Well, if this isn't joyful

These are the highlights

  • In the evening, you can take a seat at a long table to enjoy Marjan’s cooking.

  • Wiebe organises wine-tasting sessions at which he creates the finest wine and food pairings.

  • If you fancy a relaxing day by the pool, you can also order a lunch dish.

After having welcomed guests for several years at Bed & Breakfast De Gesholte in the Netherlands, Wiebe and Marjan bought their dream house in the French Préveranges and started Chambres d’hôtes La Joyeuse with five lovely rooms - three on the first floor and two in the attic. Each room has its own interior and atmosphere. Although they are all equipped with all modern comforts without exception and each has its own bathroom.

The extensive breakfast consists mainly of regional products such as various rolls, a fresh egg, sweet and savoury toppings and of course orange juice and croissants. Would you also like to sit down at a long table in the evening and enjoy Marjan's cooking skills? The dinner consists of three courses, with Italian food on Wednesdays and French food on Fridays. Are you going for a day of walking or cycling? A packed lunch will be lovingly prepared for you. Just like a lunch in case you want to laze around in the garden or by the pool. And as if that wasn't enough, Wiebe also provides wine tastings, with matching delicacies to accompany the most delicious wines.

Surroundings

The Le Berry region is located in the departments of Indre, Cher and the northern part of the Creuse, in Central France. The climate here is pleasant and the people are exceptionally hospitable. Because there is little industry here, you also breathe the cleanest air in France. The breathtaking and still unspoilt nature and the peace were extensively described in various books by the famous writer George Sand who lived here. The possibilities for walkers and cyclists are endless. In Préveranges you will find the highest point of the Cher (Magnoux, 504 metres) and on a clear day you can even see the dormant volcano sw Puy de Dôme. There is also plenty to discover in terms of culture: old castles, such as Château de Sarzay, nice villages and towns such as La Châtre, Boussac, Chateaumeillant, abbeys (Prieuré d’Orsan), the George Sand Museum, gardens, castles and much more.

History

Wiebe and Marjan's dream house has a long history and has had several residents. They changed the destination and turned it into a B&B with five lovely rooms and a swimming pool in the garden.

Wiebe and Marjan

Sometimes there comes a moment when you feel it’s time for a new chapter. For Wiebe and Marjan, that was the moment they decided to make their long-cherished dream a reality: running their own bed and breakfast in France. In the beautiful, green countryside of the Berry region, they found exactly what they were looking for – peace and quiet, space, and authentic French country life. They now take great pleasure in sharing this special place with their guests.
