These are the highlights

  • This townhouse is situated in one of the oldest parts of the historic centre of Nyons in the Drôme.

You will definitely be happy with this. Because in this mansion, located in one of the oldest parts of the historic center of Nyons, an unforgettable stay awaits you. Maison de Maître Des-Sens is ideally located for those who want to enjoy the Provencal life. The house is located under the protective arches of the historic Romanesque bridge - le Pont Roman - and close to the shops, restaurants and many typical local and historical sights.

You can choose from three apartments here. Each has its own identity that fits the floor where they are located. The historic staircase, spread over 3 floors, offers each apartment its own main entrance, which means that privacy is guaranteed.

All apartments are intended for max. 2 people. Apartment Loft and Art Deco have a living area, fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine, separate bedroom and bathroom with toilet. Apartment Loft also has an indoor loggia with fully opening windows overlooking the Pont Roman and the mountainous area behind it. Apartment Art Deco has a private roof terrace. The living room and bedroom overlook the river, the mountains and the Roman bridge. Studio 'Voyage' offers a bedroom and bathroom and is therefore ideal as an extra room for one of the apartments.

The lovely city garden with basin, which provides cooling on beautiful summer days, faces south, offers access to the Digue along which the river l’Eygues flows and is there for everyone to use.

On Saturdays you can make a reservation for a meal. On some summer evenings the owners organize an aperitif for their guests in the city garden. This is the opportunity to discover regional products that are preferably organic. The latter also applies to the wines.

Surroundings

The Drôme Provençale will surely enchant you with the authenticity of the
landscapes and its white stone villages that are so typical of the South-East of France. You can walk endlessly in Le Parc Naturel Régional des Baronnies Provençales. This nature reserve is flanked by Vercors, Drôme, Mont Ventoux, the pre-Alps and Durance Valley. In Montélimar, nougat beckons and the mystery of the black truffle can also be unravelled here. And then we haven't even mentioned the markets and restaurants, the squares, historic buildings and churches.

History

The history of this impressive mansion goes back to 1789. The current owners felt immediately embraced by the old soul of the building when they first met it. Thanks to their efforts, the house regained its former splendor. While all the old details were restored to their former glory, modern comfort and facilities were added.

Nannette Brouwer

After many years in France, Christon and Nannette feel they have struck the right balance between Dutch efficiency and French joie de vivre. They have gained a wealth of experience as hosts and hostesses, which they have brought with them to their townhouse in Nyons; so hospitality is certainly a strong point in this ‘house of the senses’ – which is a loose translation of Maison de Maître Des-Sens.

Nyons is quintessentially Provençal. With charming little markets, narrow streets and old squares, sunshine, terraces under the plane trees and little restaurants with old-fashioned waiters.

Olives are the ‘house speciality’ here (AOP Nyons). Think olive groves, small producers, tastings and little shops.
