La Grande Maurague

6 rooms, swimming pool and tables d'hôtes

These are the highlights

  • Well, there’s certainly no shortage of keen gardeners here, with a park-style garden, a vegetable patch and a herb garden.

  • This centuries-old house was built in the typical Gascon architectural style, which means it was constructed using the region’s white natural (limestone) stone.

  • Tables d'hôtes are available. Thank goodness, because once you’ve checked in, you probably won’t want to leave.

Could it be love at first sight for a region you drive through on the way to your holiday address a bit further away? It happened to Belgian Els and Werner. After enough deliberation, they decided to follow their hearts and bought a Gascon house that is located in the middle of nature and 5 km from the lively town of Condom - with all amenities, shops, supermarkets, bakeries and restaurants.

After the purchase, a period of intensive renovation followed, during which five distinctly luxurious guest rooms were also completely completed. Naturally, each room has a complete and luxurious bathroom with a walk-in shower.

In addition, a (heated) swimming pool was added, the park garden was renovated and a vegetable and herb garden and several large terraces were created.

Coffee/tea facilities, air conditioning, an honesty bar, charging station and WiFi are also standard here. A small dog is welcome upon consultation and tables d'hôtes are possible.

Surroundings

Years ago, on the way to their holiday address in northern Spain, Els and Werner drove through the Gers region in south-west France. Seeing the picturesque landscapes, medieval villages and agricultural charm made their hearts beat faster and that is only too good to imagine. The Gers is part of the Occitanie region and is nestled between the Pyrenees in the south and the Garonne River in the north. The landscape in the triangle of Auch, Condom and Lectoure, in which the B&B is located, is nothing short of picturesque with an abundance of vineyards, rolling hills, sunflower fields and charming medieval villages. Furthermore, you can expect peace and quiet here because the hustle and bustle of everyday life is far away here. In addition to those seeking peace and quiet, lovers of history, culture and architecture, sports enthusiasts and gastronomes will also find their money's worth here. La Grande Maurague is located 1h30 from Toulouse airport and 1h40 from Bordeaux airport.

History

The centuries-old house in which you are staying is the typical Gascon architectural style, built from the white natural (lime) stone of the region. Els and Werner signed for a complete renovation in which modern comfort was introduced without compromising the authenticity. The tasteful and luxurious interior is characterized by beautiful and sustainable materials.
