Chambre en pierre

2 gîtes (one for 2 and one for 4 people)

These are the highlights

  • This authentic, elegant farmhouse is situated on top of a hill and is surrounded by woodland and farmland.

  • For those who don’t fancy cooking or simply want to sit back and relax, there are various ‘catering services’.

  • Children aged 12 and over are very welcome.

Robin and Ilse decided to change course in 2019 – see it as an ‘I’m leaving’ or ‘changing course’, but without cameras! After selling their house in the Netherlands, they toured France for a year in a converted fire truck with their two Labradors. In search of the perfect spot, crossing the country from north to south, from west to east and back again, they finally landed in Blanquefort-sur-Briolance where they found the domain of their dreams.

It is now a delightful place to stay and for that purpose there are two gîtes furnished super complete and equipped with all comforts (one for two people and one for four.) Each gîte has its own entrance, a private terrace and access to the saltwater swimming pool (open from 1 May to 31 October). The gîtes are not suitable for small children. Children aged 12 and over are welcome and by that choice you can also enjoy the peace and quiet to the fullest.

Chambre en pierre is situated on top of a hill and offers a lot of privacy and spectacular views. The domain is surrounded by 7 hectares of agricultural land and 11 hectares of forest. Due to the long driveway, noise pollution from sporadic passing traffic is negligible.

For those who wish, there are optional home-made snacks and chilled drinks available for the aperitif. There is also a table d'hôtes a few times a week and on the day of arrival you will find a meal, a filled fridge and all the ingredients for a delicious breakfast for the next morning on request.

Surroundings

Chambre en pierre can be found in Blanquefort-sur-Briolance in the Lot-et-Garonne and a stone's throw from the Dordogne. Here you can enjoy the peace and space of Lot-et-Garonne while avoiding the hustle and bustle of the Dordogne and still be at various tourist places within half an hour. Think for example of old cozy bastides, caves, castles, flower gardens, daily markets, wineries, balloon rides and shops. Sports enthusiasts can play golf, canoe, tennis, climb and much more nearby. The beautiful lake Lac de Marou in Cuzorn is 10 km away where you can swim, paddle or paddle and fish endlessly.

History

The history of this farm goes back to the year 1665 when this was a place where simplicity and hard work were central. The farm offered everything needed for self-sufficiency: from its own fields to a number of animals. Over time, it was regularly renovated and expanded. Robin and Ilse were responsible for the last renovation, which also included the two guest houses.

Castles? There are loads! Here are three we’d recommend in the area: Château de Bonaguil, Château de Biron, Château de Gavaudun.

Monpazier is one of the most beautiful bastide villages in France (a medieval town with a neat, rectangular street layout). It has a charming square with arcades and a market.
