Mühle am Sandbach

Holiday home for 3 (2 additional beds in an outbuilding)

These are the highlights

  • This 300-year-old watermill is built on a steep slope – and is therefore not ideal for those with mobility issues.

  • Inside the Finnish log cabin are the sauna (with separate toilet facilities) and the plunge pool, which has been carved out of natural stone and clad in mosaic.

  • In the log cabin, there is sleeping accommodation for two extra guests on the mezzanine.

Open from May 1st to the 1st of November!

In the heart of the wooded area of the Westerwald, Nassau Nature Park, you'll find this heritage gem, accessible from the main road via a narrow unpaved road. The four floors of this historic watermill are built into the steep hillside, creating an impressive appearance. The holiday home is housed in the old mill and offers ample space for three guests. Guests have access to a lovely kitchen/diner, a sitting area, and a separate television room on the ground floor. An antique staircase leads to the two bedrooms (one single and one double) and the bathroom. The private terrace with an additional outdoor kitchen and barbecue is also on the ground floor.

The house is surrounded by a rock garden, while below, at the "Sandbach," a Japanese garden with a Finnish log cabin awaits. Here, for everyone's use, you'll find a sauna with separate bathroom facilities, and a mezzanine offers sleeping accommodations for two additional guests.

Surroundings

Located in the heart of Nassau Nature Park and bordering the southern Westerwald, both those seeking peace and quiet and nature lovers will find plenty to enjoy. The selection of hiking and cycling routes, winding through vast forests and river valleys, is enormous. While every season has its charm, the autumn colors are particularly stunning. Those seeking refreshment in summer can visit a nearby lake. The beautiful Lahn Valley, with its romantic towns of Weilburg, Limburg, Diez, Nassau, and Bad Ems, is also ideal for canoeing. Just 30 kilometers away, vineyards, medieval castles, and palaces await along the Rhine and Moselle rivers. Water sports enthusiasts can explore the Wiesensee (Westerwald Lake Plateau), among other places. Frankfurt and Cologne are just half an hour away. For golfers, there are three courses nearby (Wiesensee, Dreifelden, and Bad Ems).

History

'Mühle am Sandbach' is situated in a former watermill built some three centuries ago. The current owner renovated it and created this impressive holiday home, where the atmosphere of yesteryear blends beautifully with modern comforts.

The building, which has been carefully restored, combines historic charm with modern comfort. Solid natural stone walls, original wooden beams and cosy nooks invite you to while away the hours – whilst outside the stream babbles and the birds sing.
