Havelterhoeve

3 holiday cottages (for 3 or 4 guests)

These are the highlights

  • During her tour of south-west Drenthe in 1913, Queen Wilhelmina visited this farmhouse, which dates from 1861.

  • Incidentally, the farm is situated in a place that is also known as the pearl of Drenthe.

  • Each holiday cottage has its own garden.

It’s always nice to have a choice, isn’t it? Then you can really enjoy yourself here. Because there are three cosy, different holiday cottages, situated in a place that’s often referred to as the pearl of Drenthe.

Heideveld, for example, is a cosy holiday cottage for three. Downstairs, there is a spacious living room with French doors leading onto the terrace, an open-plan kitchen, a dining table and a seating area, as well as a spacious, new bathroom. The upstairs is the sleeping area, making it ideal for a group of 2 adults and 1 child. On fine days, the garden is waiting for you. Naturally, it comes with garden furniture, and from your terrace you’ll enjoy a stunning view over the heath. Hooiland is a holiday cottage for 4 people and is best suited to 2 adults and 2 children. It also features a living room with an open-plan kitchen, dining table and sitting area, as well as a bathroom on the ground floor and two bedrooms upstairs. Your private terrace – complete with garden furniture – overlooks the meadow with its ancient oak trees. ‘Hunebed’ also accommodates 2 adults and 2 children, has a layout similar to that of ‘Hooiland’ and also features its own garden.

Surroundings

The old village of Havelte, with its village green, is also known as the Pearl of Drenthe, and there is plenty to do and see in and around this gem. For example, Havelte Church and the butterfly garden are well worth a visit, and there are also a number of famous hunebeds and a sheepfold in the surrounding area. But of course, you can also simply head out into the countryside to enjoy nature.

History

The Havelterhoeve dates back to 1861 and was used as a working farm for many years. During her tour of south-west Drenthe in 1913, Queen Wilhelmina paid a visit to the farm. It is thought that this is why the building is nicknamed the ‘Wilhelminahoeve’. In the 1990s, the building was repurposed. What were once the stables are now a lovely place to spend a holiday.
