Het Tramlokaal

The ambiance in the wonderful restaurant is familiar and warm, the design bright and spacious, and the cuisine modern. Each season comes with a new menu with a choice of mainly adventurous dishes, made of fresh ingredients. The chef’s tastings are famous! Weather permitting guests can have dinner outside on the terrace, watching the sunset between the thatched roof farms. Children can play in the big garden.

On the second floor are three luxury suites. As for the size and ambiance they perfectly match the restaurant. But they are even more comfortable. Spacious rooms decorated with design furniture and luxurious bathrooms equipped with all modern facilities.

In the former stable of the farm is a very spacious apartment with a separate bedroom. Luxuriously furnished with a private terrace and a wonderful design kitchen.

The beds are of the brand Carpe Diem, practically guaranteeing guests a good night’s sleep. Also available are facilities for trainings, workshops and meetings up to 30 persons.

Surroundings

Het Tramlokaal is located in the old village centre of Meppen. Outside this tiny and peaceful village the beautiful Drent scenery can be enjoyed. Possibilities for walking and cycling are superfluous and also peace seekers will have a great time. In the vicinity are two golf courses, various stables, a beautiful sculpture garden and many galleries and historical attractions. Also the Noorder Zoo in Emmen is worth a visit.

History

What used to be the tram stop between Assen and Coevorden, is a wonderful place to dine and stay nowadays. The characteristic building was built in the last century and served as a tram stop until 1947. There were also a café and a grocery store for hungry and thirsty travellers. The back was used as a farm. In the post-war years it used to be a hotel with fifteen rooms. Restaurant ‘Het Tramlokaal’ has an established reputation in this area for ten years already. Recently three luxury suites were also realised.
