'Mientjes Morgen' bij Noarderleech

Cottage for up to 4

These are the highlights

  • The fenced garden faces south-west.

  • For that little bit of extra comfort, there’s a sauna.

  • On Fridays, the organic delivery service from the Hofwebwinkel comes round, and the local SPAR also offers a grocery delivery service.

If you don't like peace, birds, stars, water and views, you've come to the wrong place. For example, the area behind the dike - the Noorderleeg - is part of the Dutch Wadden area, which is on the Unesco World Heritage list.

In that beautiful area you will find Mientjes Morgen: a sweet little house at the foot of the Waddenzeedijk below the mound village of Ferwert. You can enjoy a wonderful holiday with two, a maximum of four people. To this end, a fully equipped kitchen - with a dishwasher, of course -, a cozy living room with a good wood stove and TV, shower and toilet and two bedrooms on the first floor. A cot can always be added and the beds are nicely made for you on arrival.
For nice days, the garden furniture is already displayed in the enclosed garden, which is located on the southwest.

On Fridays, the organic delivery man from the Hofwebwinkel comes by and the local SPAR supermarket also has an excellent shopping service.

Surroundings

The summer polders and salt marshes outside the dikes have been released back to nature by It Fryske Gea and there are beautiful walking paths and good cycling paths along the dike. The Noorderleeg is an Eldorado for bird lovers. The area is on the western bird migration route along the coastline. Huge numbers of birds make their way through this annually and tens of thousands of barnacle geese overwinter here before flying back north again at the end of May.
On top of the dike you look out over the mudflats and you can see Ameland. The ferry to Ameland leaves 5 km away in Holwerd, the boat to Schiermonnikoog from Lauwersoog is less than half an hour's drive away. Vlieland and Terschelling are accessible from Harlingen.

The history of Ferwert dates back to several centuries before the start of the Common Era, when the village was founded on a salt marsh ridge. Mientjes Morgen was built many centuries later – in 1900, to be precise. Its exterior has hardly changed since then, but its interior certainly has.
