Vakantiewoning/B&B 't Stee fan Anne P.

Holiday home for up to 5 guests

These are the highlights

  • ‘Stee’ is another word for ‘place’ or ‘spot’. Anne P., who was well known in the village for her creative talents, was the owner of this listed building for over 30 years.

  • The terrace and the secluded back garden enjoy sunshine all day long, whilst the trees’ foliage keeps the house nice and cool when temperatures rise.

  • 't Stee fan Anne P. is generally on a self-catering basis. However, guests booking for just one night can order breakfast.

If you rent 't Stee van Anne P., you will have a complete house at your disposal. A small house, to be sure, yet one with full modern amenities. The entrance is through the backdoor, where you will find a scullery with shower and toilet. If you go through another door you will find yourself in the kitchen and the hallway. Behind the kitchen is the twin bedroom. The staircase in the hallway leads to the (open) upper floor, sleeping three guests. From the kitchen you enter the cosy living room where the box-bed wall has a prominent place. If you like you can sleep in the box-bed in the living room.

The enclosed patio and garden at the back of the house enjoy full sunshine most of the day. The minute the sun is shining you can sit outside. Children will have a wonderful time playing on the beautiful lawn. As we have noticed in the past two years, it can be very hot in the garden. That’s why we intend to build a shed with a roof covering, allowing you to enjoy the shade, if you are feeling uncomfortably warm.

Surroundings

Rottevalle is a small village in the municipality of Smallingerland, centrally situated in the Northern triangle of the towns Leeuwarden, Groningen, Assen. The surrounding area offers plenty of cycling and walking opportunities. Nearby Rottevalle lies the beautiful lake of De Leyen. In the summertime the lake is a favourite spot for young and old. Not only do windsurfers find their way to De Leyen; when the weather is nice the little ones will also enjoy themselves on the beach and in the water.

History

Anne Veenstra-Posthumus, locally known as Anne P., has been and still is a household name in Rottevalle. The cottage at Brouwersgreft 5 is a monument and was Anne P.'s property for more than thirty years. After her death in 2013 we bought it in 2014 and renovated it to what it is today.

One fine Sunday in April 2014, whilst Gertjan and Yvette Mulder were out for a walk through their village, they spotted a ‘For Sale’ sign hanging in the window of Anne P.’s cottage on Brouwersgrêft. The viewing took place the following Monday, and by Thursday a verbal agreement had been reached. The holiday home is the pride and joy of the whole family.
