De Oude Heerd

1 suite for 2 (up to 3) guests

These are the highlights

  • In your room, you’ll find the original fireplace with its tiled panel and wall tiles, antique French parquet flooring, a wooden beamed ceiling and a box bed.

  • Breakfast is a real treat, served in your room or on the terrace, and you can also order a lavish picnic basket.

  • Sleeping comfort here isn’t just ‘okay’. It’s a concept that arose when the question ‘how can we help our guests sleep better?’ was put to a specialist.

A historic farm on the Veluwe with only one suite. That goes without saying. A maximum of three guests have the kingdom alone and above all a lot of privacy: private entrance and private terrace with a splendid view of the surrounding area which may already be there - because of the farmlands and towards the Veluwemeer.

Sleeping comfort is not just okay here. It is a concept in which the question "how can our guests sleep better" was put to a specialist. So the mattresses are top notch. And which pillow will go with that, guests can choose for themselves. The bathroom with walk-in shower and rain shower, also has a nice sink with shaving mirror and a toilet, Fluffy towels, bathrobes, shampoo, shower gel and a hairdryer are also there for you.

In the room you will find the original fireplace with (decorative) stove and a tile tableau on both sides, original antique tiles on the wall, antique French screeds on the floor, a wooden beamed ceiling and a real box bed wall.

Finally we come to breakfast: that is a festive moment consisting of fresh orange juice, coffee and tea, delicious fresh bread, a fresh egg and local products such as fresh honey from the local beekeeper, cheese from the nearby cheese farm Van Zeeburg, fresh milk from De Lage Bijssel dairy farm and traditional yoghurt.

You enjoy breakfast in the room or on the terrace. An extensive picnic basket can also be ordered.

Surroundings

We are on the Veluwe. Which means heaths, forests, sand drifts and all kinds of game and poultry. Walking, cycling and being outdoors is therefore possible in all shapes and sizes. Gastronomers can indulge themselves in Nunspeet, Elburg and Vierhouten and culture lovers can also enjoy themselves here.

History

The farm dates from 1878 and is characterized by a thatched and baking house. It is an original hallhouse farmhouse with a longitudinal part, complete with a mourning door and a marrying door with overhead light and tree of life. The wedding door is the entrance to the Bed & Breakfast. In the herd of yesteryear, where the life of the peasant family used to take place, the old box bed has also been restored. The renovation of the farm took a year and a half. The result is impressive and is lovingly shared with other people: you as a guest.

The renovation of the old hearth – the place where the farming family’s life used to unfold – took a year and a half. Angela and Jeroen lovingly share the result with others, and that means you, as a guest.

Elburg is one of the best-preserved fortified towns in the Netherlands. Small, charming, delightfully compact, with medieval streets, an old harbour and a history linked to the Hanseatic League.

Elburg doesn’t have a trendy food scene, but it does have good seafood restaurants, French influences, local produce, and cosy bistros and cafés by the harbour.
