The A-hof is an impressive estate in the heart of the Gelderse Vallei. On this estate you will find a collection of beautiful old farms that have in common that they were or are still in need of renovation. That makes A-hof an ambitious project for the redevelopment of nature and the preservation of the architecture. All with the aim of welcoming guests from far and wide to come and enjoy all this beauty and the tranquility of being outdoors.
The 'Bakhuis' is the first cottage that is ready to open its doors to guests. Cozy, self-sufficient for four people, located in the heart of a traditional Dutch farm and adjacent to both the main building and the barn. The cottage exudes a harmonious combination of British style and Scandinavian and Dutch design.
The two bedrooms share a bathroom and toilet and both have their own charm, with soothing colours, luxurious linen and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. The living room has a comfortable, homely atmosphere. The fully equipped kitchen is the heart of the house, a place to meet over a cup of coffee or to mentally prepare today's menus.
The gardens of the Bakhuis are located on both the east, south and north sides of the house. You will find mature lime trees, cherry blossom, hydrangeas and seasonal planting.
Surroundings
The estate is home to a variety of tree species such as oak, alder and ash. These in turn attract animals such as deer, martens and various dragonflies. The traditional clog paths and the local apple route lead along hedgerows and tree-lined avenues. Walkers can discover the routes through agricultural areas, past farms and ecological 'wild nature' where respect for nature enables the recovery of plants and animals. Amersfoort is easily accessible.
History
The 'Bakhuis' used the produce of the land to bake bread for the workers and has historically been of great importance to the community around it. Authentic details such as brick floors and wooden doors have been carefully restored. The original chimney in the middle of the 'Bakhuis' has also been renovated.

Julia van Beuningen is the mastermind behind the interior design of the buildings at the A-hof. The essence of her designs is to create spaces where people can experience joy, spend time together and find peace. For her, a home is a timeless expression of the occupant’s personality and life experiences. It can be a safe haven from which we connect with the outside world, without having to conform to a specific style or trend. Isn’t that lovely?
