Landgoed Matanze

4 rooms, available to rent together as a holiday home for up to 9 guests

These are the highlights

  • The English landscape garden features various exotic tree species and a surviving monumental witch’s circle of lime trees.

  • There is also a golf course on the estate: 6 holes and very challenging.

  • You have exclusive use of the jacuzzi and the sauna.

A driveway lined with oak trees leads to this historic estate on the banks of the IJssel and on the edge of the Veluwe. This impressive complex consists of a main building, coach house, tea house, monumental greenhouses, various ponds and an old staff house. Hidden among the greenery you will find an English landscape garden with various exotic tree species and a remaining monumental witch's circle of lime trees.

It is therefore not surprising that owner Alexander van Rijckevorsel van Kessel and his wife Mirjam received numerous requests to spend the night on the Matanze. This led to the 17th century staff house being turned into an attractive, white-plastered B&B with spacious, comfortable living and sleeping areas. The rooms have items such as minibar, air conditioning, coffee/tea facilities, towels, hairdryer, shower items, TV, safe and WiFi as standard. The luxurious electric box spring beds can be separated on request.

The classic Hunting Room is the most spacious of all the rooms. This room has a large luxurious bathroom with bath and rain shower, which is located next to the room in the hallway. The room has a sink with hot and cold water. Room Hertenzicht is a cozy room that offers a view in two directions, including the deer meadow. This room shares the bathroom with the Hunting Room. That is why these two rooms are only rented to one and the same group and they can also be booked as a family room. The Koetshuis room is romantically located under the roof trusses, adjacent to the coach house and has a luxurious bathroom with shower and toilet. There is a comfortable sofa and a desk. The Terrace Room is nice and light and located on the ground floor with direct access to a spacious sunny terrace. There is a private bathroom with a walk-in shower, sink and toilet.

The former official residence of the estate is furnished as a comfortable holiday home for 8 to 9 people and has a sunny sitting room and a cozy kitchen/diner. From the kitchen you have access to a spacious terrace with an open fire pit. There are 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 4 toilets.

The sunny terrace offers a view of the deer meadow. To complete your enjoyment, there is also a golf course and you can use the jacuzzi and sauna or book a relaxing massage.

Surroundings

There are plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling here and as a guest of Matanze you can also use the six-hole golf course - all grass and sand bunkers are beautifully integrated into the landscape, the longest hole is no less than 118 meters and also for the lower handicappers it is a challenging job. There are several restaurants nearby. While there is no shortage of natural beauty here, 'hospitable Hanseatic city' and 'cookie city' Deventer awaits just a stone's throw away. Here you can shop to your heart's content, have lunch and dinner, go to the market and enjoy the numerous sights. In Apeldoorn, Palace Het Loo awaits you, and Zutphen is also easily accessible.
