London's Cottage is located in the former garage and perfectly prepared for two guests. They have plenty of space at their disposal - no less than 75 m2 - complete with a cozy sitting room, a well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave and induction hob, a bedroom with a spacious double bed, separate toilet and shower and a spare bedroom with an extra long bed in the attic.
Everything is there for the first breakfast. In addition, coffee and tea are on the house, something tasty and a bottle of wine are ready on arrival and the bicycles can be used free of charge. The terrace is ready for the beautiful days and the private forest is freely accessible.
Surroundings
Although you stay in the woods and are surrounded by nature, the center of Hilversum is not far away. That means that as a guest of London's Cottage you can literally go in any direction. All the more so because the Gooi and Amsterdam are also easily accessible.
History
It is out of love and respect that this beautiful villa with accompanying forest and guest house are cherished by the owners and shared with others. And that is exactly what the architect of this outside was after. Snooping around and working in different conditions explain London's versatility. Because it takes a challenging environment to allow a new style, way of thinking or idea to emerge. London himself believed that it is an architect's job to stack the materials in such a way that a passerby has to look at them. Because if a building doesn't provoke, it wouldn't be art. Judge for yourself.
The host
The host
Jacob London, after whom the cottage was named, drew inspiration from all over the world in his work as an architect. All these influences come together, amongst other places, at Huize Middlesex, an imposing villa that has been designated a national monument. The current owners are keen to share their beautiful grounds, including the adjoining 1.5-hectare woodland, with you.
