Hotel Restaurant De Watermölle

5 rooms and a restaurant with a large terrace

These are the highlights

  • De Watermölle is situated in a centuries-old, listed farmhouse in Twente, full of nostalgic features and details.

  • Opposite the hotel stands the centuries-old Oostendorper watermill, which is also open to visitors.

  • In the summer, the restaurant serves meals on its large terrace, which overlooks the old windmill and the surrounding countryside.

An ancient watermill in the middle of beautiful Twente nature, a hotel with five nice and spacious rooms and a restaurant with a terrace where you can sit endlessly on beautiful days? Welcome to De Watermölle! The rooms are nostalgic and robustly furnished, complete with old sleepers and trusses. There is no shortage of space here, the sleeping comfort is perfectly fine and the view of the beautiful surroundings is a great start to a new day. The bathrooms have a bath and/or shower and all modern facilities are standard.

The restaurant on the ground floor, where the extensive breakfast is also served, offers dishes that vary from richly topped mill bread or a tasty pancake to meat and fish dishes, salads or poke bowls. In the conservatory, the tables are set around the fireplace. In summer, meals are served on the large terrace overlooking the old mill and the surrounding nature.

Surroundings

De Watermölle is located in the middle of the beautiful nature of Twente, with an abundance of walking and cycling opportunities that lead through nature reserves and along the Buurserbeek. Within walking distance are both a 6-hole golf course and a tropical swimming pool. The center of Haaksbergen - including the nostalgic Museum Buurtspoorweg - is a stone's throw away. Hengelo and Enschede can be reached in fifteen minutes by car. The Oostendorper watermill in front of the door can be visited. As well as the nearby windmill De Korenbloem.

History

De Watermölle is located in a centuries-old monumental Twente farm full of nostalgic elements and details. In the early 1990s, the farm was thoroughly renovated and the building was given a catering destination.

Patrick Kienhuis didn’t hesitate for a second when he was given the chance to breathe new life into the restaurant and hotel at the Oostendorper Watermill. It took a fair bit of hard work to get everything – from the kitchen to the restaurant, terraces and hotel rooms – up to scratch. But he succeeded, and because the weather gods were kind to him in the summer of 2020, he went on to get off to a flying start with lots of satisfied, enthusiastic guests.
