Hoeve Springendal

B&B rooms, apartments, a forest cottage, and a restaurant

These are the highlights

  • In the old granary – or on the terrace – there’s a restaurant where you can have lunch, dinner or enjoy a slice of homemade apple pie with coffee.

  • Two beautiful B&B rooms have been created above the granary in the farmyard.

  • The latest addition is a charming little cottage in the woods (sleeps up to 6) with a lovely terrace and a private sauna.

Whether you choose a B&B room or a flat, the natural surroundings remain the same – and they are exceptionally beautiful. An ancient landscape home to geese, ducks, chickens, peacocks, goats, sheep, pigs, Scottish Highland cattle and draught horses. In the stream valley, with its springs, streams and gentle slopes, unusual plants such as orchids and marsh marigolds flourish and grow. On the meadows, rye and oats are in bloom once more, alongside blue cornflowers and fragrant chamomile. Various rare birds also live here, such as the kingfisher and the red-backed shrike, and the corncrake has even been spotted here on occasion. And to top it all off, you can enjoy a wonderful overnight stay here.

Two beautiful B&B rooms have been created above the granary in the courtyard for this purpose. The first is a loft with a large balcony overlooking the farmyard and the Beekdal valley. In the other room, you sleep on the mezzanine, with skylights offering views of the starry sky, whilst the other windows look out onto the ancient oak tree. Naturally, each room has its own en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bath or large shower, and every modern comfort has been provided. Breakfast is served for you downstairs.

This charming farmhouse offers five lovely self-catering flats for two or four people, spread across the ground floor and first floor, one of which is pet-friendly. They are modernly furnished and feature a living room with a sitting and dining area, a well-equipped open-plan kitchen, a bathroom with a shower and washbasin, a separate toilet, and a private terrace or loggia.

The latest addition is a charming forest cottage with a lovely terrace and private sauna. Suitable for up to six guests, it features three spacious bedrooms (one of which is on the ground floor), two toilets, a generously equipped kitchen and a bathroom with a rain shower and hand shower, double washbasin, heated mirror and hairdryer. There is also a dressing area with large mirrors, a hairdryer and a washbasin. On arrival, the beds are neatly made and bed linen is also included.

In the old granary – or on the terrace, weather permitting – there is a restaurant where you can have lunch, dinner or sit down for a slice of homemade apple pie with coffee.

Hezingen, Overijssel

You get the picture. If you don’t love nature, this simply isn’t the place for you. Surrounding the farmstead is a centuries-old nature reserve with natural springs and the gently babbling Brunninkhuizerbeek stream; further afield, the farm lies in the heart of the Springendal nature reserve, a stone’s throw from the German border and 4.5 kilometres from the picturesque village of Ootmarsum. The farm is situated in the municipality of Tubbergen, surrounded by numerous nature reserves, both large and small.

Familie Brinninkhuis

An ancient landscape and an old moraine where one and the same family has lived and worked for centuries: the Brunninkhuis family. It could hardly be more fitting, as the family name means ‘house by the springs’. The first settlement here was inhabited even before the year 1500, and over many generations this place has slowly but surely evolved into what is now the Hoeve Springendal Estate.

The charm of picturesque Ootmarsum lies mainly in its combination of art, narrow old streets, outdoor cafés and nature.
