In 2001, the first floor of Herberg De Klomp was converted into attractive and comfortable guest rooms, each with a private bathroom. At the inn’s delightful restaurant, personal attention to the guests is as important as the quality of the cuisine, and, if desired, the dining experience can last all evening. The restaurant works according to the 'green' business philosophy. This means not only that all the courses on the regularly changing menu are prepared in a traditional way, but also that local products are used as much as possible, preferably from organic farmers. The motto here is that farmers work with nature instead of controlling nature. Great examples of this philosophy are Salland asparagus and organic spelt, a type of ancient wheat. In keeping with tradition, the restaurant serves game dishes in the autumn.
Surroundings
Herberg De Klomp is situated on one of the few rural estates with a village centre: Country Estate Vilsteren. Vilsteren is scenically located in Overijssel’s beautiful Vecht Valley with countless options for wonderful outings. For instance, long-distance walkers will thoroughly enjoy the signposted ‘Vechtdalpad’ trail. Herberg De Klomp is also an ideal starting point for relaxed forest walks or sportive cycling tours to the Sahara (sand drifts), the Archemerberg or the Lemelerberg. The Hanseatic city of Zwolle, Ommen, Dalfsen or Hardenberg are worth a visit all year round. During the summer months, many traditional Dutch markets and fairs are held in the area, and several amusement parks are within easy reach. There are also a number of inspiring gardens, museums and castles open to visitors.
