Hotel Flora Batava

Rooms and suites, restaurant and tea house

These are the highlights

  • The history of this idyllic country estate on the River Vecht dates back to the year 1670.

  • The best place to enjoy watching the boats go by is in the tea house or on the adjoining terrace by the water.

  • Restaurant Bloei is situated in the hotel’s unique historic villa and is open for breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner.

Flora Batava is not just a boutique hotel with wonderful rooms and luxurious suites. Flora Batava also offers a restaurant, a tea house and two meeting rooms and this historic country estate is also located in a super idyllic location on the Vecht River.

Starting with the rooms, they are cleverly designed and come in all sizes and shapes. Whether they are equipped with original beamed ceilings, a French balcony, a bath, offer a view of the Vecht or have an extra sofa bed for the children, they are without exception serenely decorated with beautiful lamps and special art. The wonderful beds were also designed especially for Flora Batava by the Nilson Beds brand. These are of high quality, provide firm support and have a soft top layer.

Restaurant Bloei, which is located in the special historic villa of the Flora Batava hotel, opens its doors for an extensive breakfast, tasty lunch, extensive high tea and art dinner and is accessible to everyone. The high ceilings, the intimate room en suite and the large glass conservatory exude a cozy, informal and contemporary atmosphere. The Bloei kitchen likes to work with carefully selected regional and seasonal ingredients and the menu is composed with a passion for the flavors and versatility of Dutch products. In summer, the garden is covered on the terrace.

The best way to enjoy the boats on the Vecht is in the tea house or on the accompanying terrace on the water. Here you can enjoy a delicious cup of tea or coffee with cake or a beautiful glass of wine with a savory snack.

And as if that weren't enough, Flora Batava is also exceptionally well equipped for meetings, events, weddings or private dining events.

Surroundings

The location can certainly be called ideal, because not only on the Vecht but also close to the Loosdrechtse Plassen, the fashionable Gooi and Amsterdam. As a result, hikers and cyclists, as well as water sports enthusiasts and golfers, will get their money's worth here, while there is also more than enough to discover for culture lovers and those who enjoy shopping.

History

The history of what is now called Flora Batava goes back to the year 1670 when Agnes Block bought a farm on 14.5 hectares of land and founded the Vijverhof country estate there with an orangery, orchards, ornamental and vegetable gardens, avenues and various ponds. Unfortunately, the country estate is in a dilapidated state when Inge van de Ven purchased it in 2016 and became the new owner. The idea of restoring Vijverhof to its former glory and giving it a hotel function was 'a special journey,' as she calls it. On her journey, historic elements were preserved or restored, while modern spaces were created. The result is a boutique hotel where past and present come together and where the tradition of hospitality comes back to life.
