De Smederij Texel

5 rooms

These are the highlights

  • A large orchard that’s perfect for daydreaming.

  • Just 10 minutes from the beach.

  • Traces of the smithy of yesteryear are still visible here and there.

The original style of the five guestrooms has been preserved, but they have been provided with modern luxury and all time humor. All rooms differ in size, decoration and colours, but each has a private bathroom and sitting area. Bathrobes, a mini bar, a senseo coffee machine, a water boiler and television with dvd player are standard accessories. Wireless internet is also available. Studio ‘Vuur’ is on the ground floor and has a view of the main street. Studio ‘Droom’ borders the spacious garden with its old orchard. Two guestrooms are on the first floor. In the ‘Verlangen’ studio adults sleep in the box bed, whereas 2 children may sleep on the sofa in the living room if required. The bathroom in this studio is equipped with a wonderful whirlpool. In studio ‘Zilt’ the antique bed is an eye-catcher.

Guests can relax and contemplate in the wonderful spacious garden with its old orchard. Breakfast is served in the room at your convenience.

Surroundings

The ferry from Den Helder (carrying cars) takes less than half an hour to go to Texel. De Smederij is in the centre of De Cocksdorp in the north of this West Frisian island. In the same street are many pubs, restaurants and shops, as well anywhere else on the island. The North Sea beach is only a 10 minute walk away. There are plenty of possibilities for walking and cycling. The island full of sheep can easily be explored within a day. In summer guests can take the ferry to Vlieland to explore that island as well.

History

This building was built as a forge over a hundred and fifty years ago, and used as such for a long time. Some remnants can still be found. Recently the house has been thoroughly renovated and changed into a B&B.
