Domaine Au Chantecler

Domaine Au Chantecler is run by Dirk and Kristien, both from Flanders. Together they renovated this former presbytère (rectory) into what it is today, a warm bath for anyone who wants to get away from it all not too far from home. Tranquility, beauty and authenticity are central to Au Chantecler and that is reflected in the tasteful, authentically decorated and cozy interior.

Guests can choose from three delightful B&B rooms. All three are different and very individual, but without exception comfortable and with a private bathroom with bath or shower. You can enjoy breakfast in the breakfast room or, as soon as the weather permits, outside in the romantic garden. In that garden - which is completely walled - you will also find several terraces, a swimming pool and jeu de boule court. For the less beautiful days, two lounges with a fireplace and a TV room await you inside.

In addition to the three rooms, there is also Gîte Le Chêne, which is located in the former equerry's house that borders the garden and overlooks the valley of the l'Oise and the wide surroundings. In the gîte you will find everything for a successful holiday for up to six people. There is a spacious living room, complete kitchen and separate dining room, spacious bathroom with walk-in shower and double sink and three bedrooms, each with a double bed. There is also a spacious private terrace with BBQ, garden furniture and parasol, where you can enjoy the surroundings together in peace.

Surroundings

The village of Malzy is surrounded by the Thiérache nature reserve and is located between Guise and La Capelle, about 200 km from Antwerp. The domaine is located next to one of the fortified churches that are so characteristic of the Thiérache and is surrounded by a walled and super romantic garden that has a beautiful view over the wide valley of the river l'Oise. Nearby is the Ax Vert where you can endlessly walk, cycle and horseback ride. The area is a paradise for the avid cycling tourist, with small sloping roads that take you past beautiful old villages, where time seems to have stood still. The Champagne city of Reims is 80 km away.

History

Dirk & Kristien signed up together for the renovation of this centuries-old presbytère (rectory). Dirk's experience as a self-employed person in the construction sector and Kristien's expertise as an antique dealer and decorator of small seating furniture came in very handy. The result may be there.
