Nijkruslan Lodge

Lodge for up to 6 people

These are the highlights

  • Your holiday lodge is tucked away amongst the trees and surrounded by greenery and tranquillity.

  • The living room is on the first floor: with windows all round, it offers a magnificent view of your own woodland garden.

  • From the wood-fired hot tub and sauna, you can look out over one of the ponds.

The moment you drive up the long driveway, you automatically leave the rest of the world behind you. At the end, your holiday lodge lies hidden among the trees, surrounded by greenery and silence. Through the large glass entrance, you enter the hall of the Nijkrúslân Lodge. Plenty of light and more than enough space to take off and hang coats. Behind the doors in the hall, you will find three lovely bedrooms. With beds equipped with comfortable mattresses and beautifully made up with the softest linens. The silence and darkness during the night will make you sleep like a baby! And how wonderful is that? All three bedrooms have their own private bathroom. Featuring a rain shower or bath, a large mirror, plenty of towels for everyone, and, of course, underfloor heating throughout.

The living room is located on the first floor. With windows all around, you have a magnificent view of the surrounding landscape and your own forest garden. The large dining table invites you to spend hours dining, playing games, and having good conversations. The designer kitchen and the relaxed lounge sofa complete the experience of pure enjoyment.

If the weather cooperates, you can open the two large Velux Cabrio windows in the living room. This allows you to bring the outdoors inside and enjoy the beautiful view of the fairytale-like forest garden. A pleasant tranquility reigns in the large, idyllic forest garden of over one hectare. From the wood-fired hot tub and sauna, you look out over one of the ponds. After a chilly day outdoors, it is wonderful to warm up and relax here.

Surroundings

The lodge is situated on the old Wadden Sea dike in the middle of the varied landscape of Northeast Friesland. A region that has not yet been hammered down by tourism and feels surprisingly authentic precisely because of this. A short distance away lies the pristine Lauwersmeer, known for its rugged nature, unique flora and fauna, and the Dark Sky Park, where the starry sky is impressively clear in the evening. Historic Dokkum, bustling Groningen, and the nearby Wadden Sea coast are also within easy reach. Together, they make this area versatile and inviting for exploring.

The NijKrúslân Lodge is situated in the thatched section of a former dyke keeper’s cottage dating from 1870 and is located on Friesland’s old Wadden Sea dyke. The grounds feature a listed toll booth and the only ‘sylhok’ (shelter or shed) that has been preserved in the region.
