The main attraction at Oldenbosch is the three beautiful B&B rooms. Two are in the front part of the house and one is upstairs, accessible via the barn. The rooms are spacious, airy and tastefully decorated, and the atmosphere is intimate. The en-suite bathrooms are fitted with a shower and a bath. Breakfast is served in your room, in the antique dining room or, weather permitting, outside on the terrace, surrounded by the vast countryside, peace and quiet.
Nansum (Holwierde), Groningen
Maren (centuries-old Wadden Sea inlets and creeks), mound settlements and an open landscape, interspersed with villages often featuring 11th-century churches and famous organs, characterise the surrounding countryside. There are endless opportunities for cycling and walking in the area. Canoeing and mudflat walking are also among the possibilities. Schiermonnikoog and Groningen are easily accessible.

This farmstead was first mentioned in the 14th century, but its history probably goes back even further. The style of construction dates back to the earliest farmstead architecture in the northern Netherlands. The front part of the house features a truss construction that is rare in northern Groningen: the anchor-beam truss. This, combined with Oldenbosch’s location on a ‘huiswierde’ (a raised farmstead on a mound), makes the listed building absolutely unique. The renovation required after twenty years of standing empty was extensive and took a very long time, but the result is certainly worth it.
